The story behind Glasgow's African diaspora podcast
GlasPod was born from a simple observation: the African diaspora in Glasgow has incredible stories to tell, but there was no platform bringing those voices together. In November 2025, two friends decided to change that.
Hosted by George, Rachael, and Ann Duncan — George and Ann originally from Kenya, Rachael from Uganda, all now rooted in Glasgow — GlasPod started as conversations between friends and quickly grew into something the community needed. What began as casual discussions about culture, identity, and life abroad became a weekly show that resonated with hundreds of listeners across Scotland and beyond.
The show covers everything from African politics and diaspora life to mental health, dating, careers, sport, and the everyday experiences of living as an African in the UK. Guests range from community leaders and dancers to poets, mental health advocates, and cultural experts — each bringing their own chapter to the GlasPod story.
Since launching, GlasPod has become a weekly gathering point for Glasgow's African community — a place where people feel seen, heard, and connected. With new episodes every week, the show continues to grow as the go-to space for honest, unfiltered conversation about what it means to be African in the diaspora.

Originally from Kenya, Ann Duncan joined the GlasPod team as co-host, bringing her passion for community storytelling and mental health advocacy. A powerful voice who first appeared on EP.13 to discuss mental health in African communities, Ann now brings warmth, depth, and authenticity to every conversation on the show.
GlasPod exists to amplify the voices, stories, and experiences of the African diaspora in Glasgow and beyond. We believe every story matters — from the joyful to the painful, the everyday to the extraordinary.
We're not professionals with perfect answers. We're two people from Uganda sitting in Glasgow, having the conversations our community needs — the ones that happen in kitchens, in car parks, and at community events but rarely get recorded. GlasPod is the microphone for those moments.
